Cresting
Top Uniforms offers various methods of cresting. cresting is the process
of applying your logo to your garments. This is a very important part of the
presentation process because your logo is the highlight of the garment for promotional
purposes.
Screen Printing
Embroidery
Tackle-Twill
Chenille
Others (i.e. Embossing /De-bossing on leather, engraving on metals)
Screen Printing
Screen-print is the most versatile medium in the garment decoration market.
From wildly colourful T-shirt designs to a one colour print on a polo, screen-print
can do it all. Screen-print pricing is broken down into two basic steps. The
set up of the job, and the actual printing.
SET UP
A large part of the screen-print process is the setup. Unlike embroidery, the
number of colours has a direct relationship on the difficulty of the setup.
Accordingly, setups are charged on a flat fee, per colour basis. However, the
amount of pieces you order can offset this cost. You pay the same setup fee
whether you order 10 pieces or 10,000 pieces so it's more cost effective to
order more
PRINTING
Printing is priced on a per shirt per colour basis. In other words, more colours
costs more money, but you get a discount for quantity.
We have a large range of stock colours available, and if colour matching is
critical we can match through the Pantone Matching System, or match your sample.
Embroidery
For that classy look, nothing beats embroidery. Although the level of detail
screen-print offers can not be reached, embroidery is definitely in a class
by itself.
The level of detail and crispness of the embroidery can depend on a number
of things.
The material of the garment - micro fibres with a tight weave holds stitches
better, while small stitches tend to get lost in thick polar fleece.
The size of the graphic and lettering - tiny lettering that's barely legible
on a laser print or business card will get worse when transformed into stitches.
Type style - any type style can be embroidered if it's done large enough. If
you need to go small, a block font is the recommended style to use.
These are some of the considerations you should have before getting your companies
logo embroidered for the first time. We want you to be happy with the product
you receive, and we will work hard to keep you satisfied.
Embroidery is a two step procedure; first an embroidery disk has to be made
(this is call digitizing) then there is the application of the logo to the garment.
Tackle Twill
Tackle Twill lettering is designed to give you a big bold athletic look. Colleges,
Professional Sport Teams and Greek Organizations use twill lettering for many
of their official uniforms. Most High School Wool jackets use twill letters
on the back for the school name and sports.
The process of sewing Twill letters consists of first heat sealing the letters
on to the garment and then sewing around the edge of the material with what
is called a zig zag stitch. The cost of custom lettering garments in this manner
may be more expensive but unlike screen printing, can be done on an individual
basis and still give you that clear bold look.
Most lettering is done in basic plain block, full block, script or Greek letter
styles. You can use twill for custom logos that are made up of a simple design
and bold letters.
